An Introduction to my studio
Welcome to my studio. I'd like to introduce you to its space and equipment.
Hello there! I’m Peter, the blogger behind this site. I’m retired and still passionate about photography. A few months back, I set up a small photography studio in my basement. I believe lighting is crucial in photography and the studio gives me plenty of control over it. This studio setup isn’t really intended for portraits or macro photography (those might come later), but for capturing small objects in sizes from a thimble to a breadbox.
The photo shows a studio light box in use to photograph a scale model ’50 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop (one of my favorite cars!). I don’t always use the light box. More often I use the desktop alone for my set. In the photo, you can also see my Canon 70D camera connected to a MacBook Air (M2) running Helicon Remote software. I’m using two small LED lights in the photo, but I also have a larger LED light, two 200W studio strobes, and a kit with three Lowell Pro lights. I also use a Sekonic L558 light meter along with various light stands and light modifiers.
In future blog entries, I’ll share photos taken in the studio and explain how I created them. Feel free to reach out with questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else as you read my blog. I’m excited to share ideas, tips, and techniques.
